Deadpool is given a place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe by the Time Variance Authority, but instead recruits a variant of Wolverine to save his universe from extinction. For all the jokes in previous films and trailers, this film arrived with almost an empty tank. The plot was just plain stupid and didn’t do much for the Deadpool franchise. Most of the humor was the same old thing. After a while, it felt like a funny comedian telling the same joke, but in a different style, over and over again. There were some funny scenes, but for the first time in a Deadpool movie, there were a lot of parts where I just lost interest and checked my watch.
They should probably take the wins from the first two Deadpool movies and leave it at that — and I’d be 100% OK with that. Not worth a movie ticket, but good enough when it’s available on digital. The final season of What We Do in the Shadows is one of the biggest TV and streaming releases this month.
