CIA agent Joe tries to balance his personal and professional life while trying to maintain a balance between his personal and professional life while trying to maintain balance in the agency’s war on terrorism. Real military advisors helped create a more authentic portrayal of weapon handling, housecleaning, deployment and composition of activities based on other data, etc. Best new series around.
After the disappointing fourth season of Jack Ryan and generally poor performances everywhere, this was much better in every way. It looks really good and the action/fight scenes look amazing. I feel like most of the criticism of this show in the comments comes down to how unrealistic it is because of the whole female operator thing, and as a guy, I don’t mind a good female-led action series as long as it’s an original IP that doesn’t turn the male lead into a woman.
Also at first I thought it was going to be a no nonsense action show but then they kind of delved into the family and I usually cringe at that but I didn’t like what they did there. The criticism is that the plot of what this particular group of operators are doing is very limiting and could kill the story by going beyond the plot/villain of the season… to make it more substantial so they could possibly do a new more intense and dynamic Homeland or it risks becoming too episodic like The Blacklist.
PS: Nicole Kidman’s role so far is incredibly small and uneventful and could have been played by anyone else… But from what I’ve seen so far the show could have done on its own with Zaldan without any other A-Lister. TLDR Overall Cautiously optimistic, but I like what I’ve seen so far, everything is incredibly polished and well done.
