Neither protest nor force can touch it. Facts that contradict personal prejudices can simply be discredited, indeed, the fool can counter with criticism, and if they are undeniable, they can simply be ignored as trivial exceptions.
This captured the moral complexity of real life and the high cost of doing the right thing excellently. Despite criticism that the writers took too many liberties with the timeline, the changes worked well to pace the film and stay true to the main point.
The acting was strong and the writing was good, despite a couple (just a couple) of formulaic lines that still fit the moment. The actor playing Bonhoeffer avoided the cliché of the perfect hero and showed the weakness of a man suffering for a hopeless cause.
