Chronology

Inspired by a true story and directed by Magnus von Horn, THE GIRL WITH A NEEDLE tells the story of a young factory worker, Karolina (Vic Carmen Sonne), who struggles to survive in post-World War I Copenhagen. When she finds herself unemployed, abandoned and pregnant, she meets Dagmar (Trine Dyrholm), a charismatic woman who runs an underground adoption agency that helps mothers find foster homes for their unwanted children. With nowhere to turn, Karolina takes on the role of nurse. A strong bond develops between the two women, but Caroline’s world crumbles when she stumbles upon the shocking truth behind her work.
