BOB TREVINO LIKES IT is inspired by a real-life friendship that writer/director Tracie Laymon found with a stranger while searching for her father online. Lily Trevino, who often acts as a caregiver for people like her father who should be taking care of her, yearns for family connection after her mother abandoned her as a child and then suddenly her father in his twenties. Bob Trevino works long hours alone at a construction company to support his wife Jeanie’s scrapbooking. The couple has been through a lot over the past decade, and Bob has struggled to put his wife first to the point of neglecting his own feelings and needs for friendship, meaning, and connection—that is, until he receives an unexpected Facebook message from a stranger. Lily and Bob’s blossoming friendship becomes a major source of connection and healing in their lives. Bob’s small act of fatherly kindness fills the void of family in Lily’s life and has the power to change her direction forever. In their own ways, these two must learn that they are deserving of an extraordinary love that manifests itself through small acts of kindness.
