In the last released season " Games of Thrones »Discrepancies with the book have become very significant. We read books, we watched the series – it's time to compare the key events of the fifth season. How was it in the book? What will lead to?
Attention! If you did not watch the series or quit watching halfway, then meet in the text Very A lot of spoilers. We were starting from the events of the last season and from the events of five books by George Martin (in the Russian version of the publication – six). We warned you!
The author conducts an analysis , based only on those books that have been officially published. The so -called "spoiler" chapters from an unfinished sixth book do not go into the calculation, because Martin can still change everything and rewrite.
The Arya line is already close to the source, although there are changes here too. So, in the series on the threshold of a black and white house, Arya is met by Yaken H’gar, who three seasons ago advised her to go to Brahavos. But according to Yaken's books in the black and white house there was no. At this very moment, he wandered around Westeros, pursuing the led targets to him alone.
Instead, a certain priest of a black and white house, whose real name, like appearance, remained a mystery to study. Arya called him a kind person. And his first appearance was to be one of the most spectacular scenes of the entire fifth season. To check Arya, a kind person took the appearance of the dead man and told the girl to kiss himself. Arya not only kissed him in a bone face, but also tried to eat a worm that crawled out of an empty eye socket.
However, showraners go along a different path and try not to produce entities, fully using the already favorite characters.
There was no murder of a knight from the royal harbor-Merrrin Trip (that bearded pedophile in the 10th series). He did not come to Braavos at all! Instead, Arya was supposed to cut a deserter from the night patrol and kill the old insurer. The first in the series was not. But the second showed – it was Arya who sold oysters in the port.
To begin with, according to Jaime and Bronn, we did not go to Dorn for Mircella. The mercenary Bronn has settled down, got married, raises his son. And after the flight of Tyrion, Jaime does not go to the south at all, to Dorn, but to the north, to river lands.
Deprived of his right hand, he finally learns to solve conflicts not with fists, but in words, and, comprehending the basics of diplomacy, with the help of negotiations completes a long siege of two castles.
And then Jaime meets Brienne Tart, who assures that she found one of the daughters of Ned Stark and asks Jaime to go after her. On this, his line in the book ends.
Obroin Martell's mistress (the one to whom Hora squeezed out), Ellaria Sand returned to the Dorn and tried to persuade the ruler to start a war with Lannisters, but failed. Then, with the help of sand snakes (as the people of Dorn call the illegitimate daughters of Olarin), she tried to kidnap Miracellus to take revenge on the lannisters through her.
According to the book, it was not the lover of Oberin to fight with Lannisters, but by his niece – Arianna Martell. She was going to crown Miracellus and, with her help, create an official opposition to the royal harbor and lannisters.
True, her plan failed. When she with the accomplices abducted Miracellus (she, by the way, did not resist), a fight began, and a little girl … chopped off her ear and cut her cheek, awarded the Joker smile.
In the series, the sons of the Harpy arrange an ambush on the detachment of impeccable and kill Barristan Selmi who came to the rescue. There was no such scene in the book. Old Barristan is nowhere and actively participates in the events.
But the audience likes it when their favorite characters die, so the poor fellow had to stab.
Here the scriptwriters hurried. In the book before this is even like the moon. To begin with, according to the book in Essos, Tyrion arrived without Varis. However, as they say, with his "recommendations". A friend of the bald eunuch-secretian, a rich merchant, cordially met Tyrion, gave him a shelter, and then sent to Daenerys as part of a group of people who accompanied Aegon Targaryen (miraculously the nephew of Daenerys who was saved many years ago). Tyrion was supposed to become his adviser to prepare for a meeting with his aunt-Korolevoy, but did not have time-the dwarf was kidnapped by Jorah Mormont.
The following differences: Mormont did not sing the gray ailment, and on his journey and Tyrion accompanied the dwarf Penny. At first she wanted to kill Tyrion, and then became attached to him and began to teach the craft of a carnival jester. Then Tyrion, along with Mormont and Penny, fell into slavery, but they escaped, signed up in the detachment of the mercenaries and began to prepare for the assault on Mierin. End.
It seems that there is nothing to find fault with – according to the book of Khalisi, too, flew away on the dragon during her wedding. But there are still differences – semantic. So, the sons of the Harpy did not arrange a massacre in the arena. Instead, they poisoned the treats that were brought to the newlyweds. Her husband Gizdar Za Lorak was in collusion with her sons, so he was not killed in the book. After Daenerys flew to the dragon, it was he who began to rule Mierin.
Another important point – during the games the arena, Tyrion and Penny were supposed to go out. It was understood that the lions would devour them in the public, but Daenerys, not yet knowing who in front of her, asked not to release Lviv, which saved Tyrion. But the heroes no longer intersected.
One of the most cruel and strange scenes in the whole series. The army of Stannis Baratheon, on the way from https://midnight-wins-casino.co.uk/ the wall to Winterfell, was brought by snow. To move on, Stannis sacrificed his own daughter to the lord of light.
Royal blood flowed in her veins, which means that such a victim had to help Stannis get out of the trap, but instead he suffered an epic collapse: his wife hanged herself, Melisandra escaped, half of the army deserted. And then a miraculously surviving Stannis suddenly ran into Brienna Tart.
Needless to say – it was definitely not his day.
But according to the book Stannis did not burn his daughter. The girl, along with her mother and Melisandra, remained in the night patrol. Moreover, having advanced with the army to Winterfell, Stannis managed to increase his army at the expense of the inhabitants of the mountain clans. After that, he defeated the army of the Graijoi and only after that was stuck in the snow. All. There was nothing more about Stannis in the book. Well, with the exception of a short letter that Ramsey Bolton sent John Snow. In it, he boasted of his victory over Stannis. Although the truthfulness of these words caused doubts.
This was not in the book! Sansa still lives in Orlin's nest with Petir Beilish under the guise of his daughter and helps his newly -minted “dad” to establish relations with the Lords of the Arrena Valley.
And a completely different girl came up to marry Ramsi Bolton – Sansa's friend named Jane Pool. Lannisters caught her in the royal harbor and sent her to Winterfell under the guise of Arya Stark.
Ramsey tormented the girl in front of Theon. Then John Snow, who thought that his sister Arya was in Winterfell, sent a fever to their aid (another person was burned in the book instead). The operation to save false Arya failed, and Theon, along with Janey Pools, fleeing the persecution, jumped from the wall of Winterfell. After that, they wandered for some time until they fell into the location of the army of Stannis, stuck in the snow.
According to the series, John Snow becomes the Lord of the Night Watch and, together with Tormund, goes to the harsh house to bring the wild. There they face the army of white walkers, after which they return to the night patrol with great losses, where John is killed by colleagues.
The differences from the book are small here. To begin with, John Snow did not swim in the harsh house. He really sent several ships there, but they did not reach the destination – they affected the storm. But this happened between the matter. The main plot turned around another. John Snow agreed with Tormund that he would miss the wild behind the wall, but in exchange they will pass all their jewelry so that the patrol can sell them and buy supplies for the winter. In addition, the Children of the wild John ordered to take into one of the castles to have hostages in case of rebellion.
And then he decided to go to the soul of Ramsey to Winterfell, but did not have time – he was stabbed.
On the series, Cersei wanted to get even with Margeri Tyrrel and for this unleashed her hands to religious fanatics. As a result, they began to punish sinners to the right and left. Brother Marger was accused of sodium and arrested. And then Margery was arrested, and then Cersei, who wandered with his cousin Lansel. As a result – a walk with a bunny along the royal harbor under the hooting of the crowd.
The book was somewhat different. To take revenge on the daughter -in -law, Cersei seduced the boundary knight and begged him to admit that he deprived Marger of virginity long before she married King Tommen. As a result, fanatics arrested Margeri. And then to Cersei, because under torture the knight confessed to conspiracy.
The Cersei line in the series is not very different from the book. Well, perhaps she never burned the right hand of the right hand, and she did not indulge for fornication, although she should have.
You can list differences for a long time. In the fourth season, the plot of the series finally exhausted the line of Sansa and Bran, which is why Sanse surgically transplanted the line of Janey Pools, and Bran was generally removed. In the fifth season, the scriptwriters also exhausted the lines of Daenerys, John and Arya. And in addition, they themselves brought the line under the stories of some heroes who still live and live.
And now it is really incomprehensible what awaits us in the sixth season. Perhaps the white walkers are stepped over the wall and begin to destroy Westeros, and the dragons will fly and … suddenly join them. Because, honestly, after the scriptwriters did in the fifth season, we will not even be surprised at such a finale.
What do you think? Where history develops more interesting: in the book or in the series?
