Incarcerated at Sing Sing for a crime he didn’t commit, Divine G finds meaning by performing with other incarcerated men in a theater group in this story about perseverance, humanity, and the transformative power of art. At the beginning of the film, the actors are rehearsing for different parts of the play. The group is criticized for not doing comedy, but their previous play was A Midsummer Night’s Dream, which is a comedy.
Starring Late Night with Seth Meyers: Anna Faris/ Colman Domingo/ Jose Medeles (2024). Blades is written by Bryce Dessner. The best movie I’ve seen in a while.
The filmography is very unique and really sets the tone. The plot was well-crafted and paced. I was very moved by this movie.
The film is based on a true story about the Reformed Church through the Arts theater program at Sing Sing. Many of the characters are played by former members of the program. The emotional range of the characters in the film is incredibly impressive.
I was moved to tears several times during the film. This film is poignant and heartwarming – it explores hope, grief, and redemption.
